-Bbamx posted it in the other thread, but the team got a post-practice surprise when Coach Shaw announced that they would be going to the movies (to watch Southpaw) instead of participating in evening meetings. Sounds like this is the first time they've done something like this in a few years, and all of the players were ver, very excited.

-Bobby Okereke will be out a few weeks with an undisclosed injury.

Will have an article up on the state of the defense in the next day or two. But a few items:

-Sounds like Joey Alfieri has really had an excellent camp and has positioned himself as that No. 3 OLB behind Peter Kalambayi and Kevin Anderson.

-ILB is still too close to call between Kevin Palma and Jordan Perez. Appears both will rotate in.

-CB opposite Ronnie Harris is still too close to call between Alijah Holder and Alameen Murphy. It will likely be the same situation as ILB, where both players will rotate in there.

-Jordan Watkins has come on strong for that fifth defensive line spot. (Based on past years I wouldn't expect Stanford to go more than four players deep along the defensive line, but in the event of injury/late in a game, sounds like Watkins has positioned himself to be the next guy up.)

-Still Ben Edwards, Justin Reid and Brandon Simmons fighting for the third safety spot.
