I was walking campus today with a B-school lecturer (who's in my line of work) and we passed by Sunken while Tx St was practicing. One player (who had to be a middle infielder based on his glove size and physical stature) was walking outside the fence near the practice football field. We intercepted him and welcomed him to Stanford. He was pleasantly surprised and chatted with us for a couple of minutes. He said the campus was amazing and that he didn't know a college could be so beautiful. He thanked us with his gracious southern manners for our "hospitality."
My friend wished him luck and I qualified my "good luck" with "except when you play Stanford."
