I mentioned around the time of his commitment to Tennessee back in the spring that he could be a name that resurfaces at some point before Signing Day. And the Cardinal has, in fact, kept in touch with Chidi. He discusses the state of his commitment to Tennessee in this article.

This is essentially in line with what I've heard over the course of Chidi's recruitment - he's a really good player from an academic family who would be a good fit, but I just think the distance is going to be too much to overcome. From the sounds of his interview, Duke is the bigger threat to Tennessee at this point. So I'd imagine Stanford will keep plugging away to trip to get him back on campus, but it's not something I'm all that optimistic about at this point. (Getting him back on campus or eventually flipping him.)
An interesting note in the article is that Chidi will be back out in California for a wedding (and the Semper Fidelis game). It's not clear if those will be two separate trips, but - and this is a long shot - if Stanford can somehow convince him to submit an application, perhaps he gets more comfortable with the distance when he returns to the West Coast? That's kind of what happened with Reilly Gibbons a few years ago.
Anyway, figured the article was worth passing along, and who knows how things will progress over the next few months, but I wouldn't count on things getting too serious with the Cardinal at this point.
