Legendary prep writer Bill Buchalter from the Orlando Sentinel started publishing his "Florida Top-100" list about 35 years ago and it became a credible report for fans and coaches over the years. Floridians knew if your school landed a player on Billy Buck's 100 list, you were getting a good football player. Buchalter retired a few years ago and left his list in the hands of Chris Hayes who has continued to publish the Florida-100, and the Central Florida "Super-60".
With the PAC-12 teams now engaged more nationally in their recruiting effort and most high-spotting Florida, it's worth watching to see how they are faring in the Sunshine state. To date, 59 of the Top-100 are committed, including with four of those headed to P-12 schools. Notre Dame, which also appears on schedule, has 3 commits listed. Of the 41 undecided players on the Top-100, several are listing PAC-12 schools on their favorites list. Outside the Top-100 you find ASU, WSU, OSU, UO and others showing up. At last count, Florida is sending about 350 high school football players into college programs with a staggering number going to Division I schools.
Here is the P-12 tally:
No. 9 Keyshon Camp DT 6-4, 270 Lakeland-Lake Gibson to USC
No.83 Tyler Huntley QB 6-1, 175 Hallandale to Utah
No. 87 Bo Peek DT 6-3, 295 Tampa-Plant to Stanford
No. 91 Demari Simpkins WR 6-0, 175 Hallandale to Utah
The 3 Notre Dame pledges are ranked #56, #59, and #92
I should mention, Larry Bluestein is another solid source for Florida recruiting, he publishes a Top-100 for the Miami Herald.
