"Tuesday I got hurt and rolled my ankle pretty bad. It blew up like a balloon. So I went in Tuesday, got x-rays and everything and they basically said it was just ligament damage, certain things like that. I basically came in, they said, 'Hey we'll give you three days to heal.' And I was in crutches until Friday. And then I was in a boot on Friday. And then this morning took it all off and was like alright, it's up to you, depending on how you can play. Our training staff was amazing. Every single day they were there for me at 6:40 in the morning and there for me until 9'o clock at night as long as I wanted to work. Just like little things, kind of getting the swelling out, doing movements and slowly progressing me to not try to push me but get me in line where hey, this is where we can take you each day. And if you can get to there we'll be able to get you out there on the field."
Did you think you were going to play when the injury happened?
"When it first happened I was kind of worried. I was like, 'Gosh why does this have to happen now?' But right when I got the x-rays they were like, 'Alright, there's a chance you can play if you can get things going. Once I got in there my trainers told me I had a chance I knew i was going to be out here on Saturday."
Here's Shaw's comment on Blake postgame:
"Blake was great. Blake was great. Pre-practice we're talking about a middle linebacker here, right? I asked him how he is, and he said, coach, it's one game. You know, he says, I'm fine. Are you kidding me? He's all over the place. He's phenomenal. He's a great football player, and we needed him to play today. We taped him up, and he went out there, and made sure he can run around and he can do everything. Full speed, planting, cutting, he was ready to go."
