Stanford will start the season ranked No. 7 in the AP Poll. Notre Dame is No. 1 and UConn is No. 2.
It's going to be an epic battle to win the conference. Oregon is No. 3 and Oregon State is No. 8 and Stanford gets both at home. The Cardinal swept that road series last year, which was one of the more impressive such feats in recent years.
Stanford hosts No. 4 Baylor Dec. 15. Three days later the Cardinal are at No. 11 Tennessee and then at Buffalo (a Sweet 16 team last year that received three votes for the poll) on Dec. 21. Merry Christmas. The Baylor game could be the highest ranked pairing for a home game since the last time UConn was in the building.
Arizona State (No. 23) and Cal (No. 24) also are in the top 25. UCLA is No. 28 if you go by others receiving votes. The Bruins will be young but should have enough talent to eventually be tough to beat.
