Rivals analyst Adam Gorney was at the Battle at the Beach 7-on-7 tournament and typed up updates on Stanford recruits JT Daniels and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Gorney spoke with Steve Daniels, JT's father, and reports what has been discussed on this forum: USC made a big push and is being seriously considered.

Even with the inclusion of Washington in the discussion this is a Stanford vs. USC battle and there have already been several momentum swings in each direction. Daniels really wanted the Stanford offer and he loves the Cardinal coaches, especially David Shaw, Mike Bloomgren and Tavita Pritchard. He's a 4.0 student who gravitates toward football challenges and wants to earn a masters in quarterbacking while in college. The Stanford system appeals to him and I wouldn't be surprised if Stanford's coaches talk to him about how Andrew Luck and Kevin Hogan (but definitely Luck) got to the point that they had a lot of control over what play was run on the field.

Not long after his visit to Stanford I had reasons to pencil him in as an eventual commit for the 2019 class. Now it seems like the type of battle with USC that you'd expect for the clear No. 1 quarterback and top-10 caliber player in his class.

I agree with Gorney's gut feeling about the St. Brown recruitment and I give the Cardinal a good chance here. Admission is never a lock (he could write the essays in crayon) but he's a great student. Stanford's coaches have done a good job recruiting him as a game-breaking talent who can electrify their offense without having to change it all for one player.
