Athletics at Stanford going forward

Statement by the University:

"Second, the funding of athletics should never endanger the support and functioning of our research and teaching. For the most part, athletics has been self-funding, and should continue to be so to the greatest extent possible, but the university should provide funds when necessary, especially during this period of funding uncertainty."

Football A few randoms from a day watching a lot of games

Trip to Vegas canceled due to Mrs Angry’s COVID. And it was hot, so I actually watched a bunch.

1/. Good to see the air come out of Texas’ sails.
2/. Notre Dame looks quite average and could melt down after 2 killer losses
3/. Chipster ran 97 plays on offense. If he does that to us, we’ll miss USC. I couldn’t buy UCLA being favored over the Cougs, but the bookies got it right. UClA can play D.
4/. Colorado’s OL pass protection is perhaps uglier than ours. But they know how to rally and win
5/. Cal is starting a 2-star Ivy League frosh who’s holding his own against the Beavs. Looks poised. Also surprised the Weenies are FBS #2 in takeaways.
6/. Beavs are fast and tough.
7/ UW Oregon next week is going to be fun.
8/. UCLA doesn’t play Washington or Oregon. They could sneak into conference championship.

Basketball Great Stanford Daily article on Kanaan Carlyle

Please Rivals. Fix the site!

Stanford football is tough enough this season. We don't need the pauses in typing and the endless loops of meaningless, ancient video clips. I've been having the same clip of the ginger guy in the backwards black cap yapping about "Williams Nwaneri goes viral wearing Oklahoma gear". It's no wonder my mac suggests shutting down the page because it's using significant energy. Apparently Rivals is even contributing to global warming. . .. .

World Gymnastics Championships

Hong and Young had a good first round. USA qualifies for the Olympics.

Colt Walker also in the photo - he's the alternate for the USA World Team.

Basketball Stanford MBB & WBB release non-conference schedule

Read that here. MBB schedule in full has been released as I mentioned earlier, but the women's hoops schedule is only known up to the non-conference part. I had this written up when both non-conference schedules got released on the same day. So, I figured I would still publish it. Full MBB schedule breakdown to come next after which will the WBB schedule breakdown once that gets released.
