Basketball Mens Hoops - How it Could Play Out

Just looking at the remaining schedule and putting out a possible scenario. This is done by gut; tools like Sagarin would admittedly be more scientific. I see home games against Oregon and Arizona as being ones where wins would be big for us. I'm giving us a W in the Oregon game. I recognize that I likely lean optimistic throughout the schedule, and I realize that on days we show up and can only score 60 points...whether it be due to 2-21 on 3's or by turning the ball over 20 times...we can lose to anyone. Even Cal. It also appears that our schedule sets us up to again end the season on a downward trend...so don't be surprised.

I wish we'd used our "preseason" to learn things about our team...for example, who's the best point guard, what's our best 8-man rotation, etc. But I don't feel we know anything much more than we did a month ago...other than that a few of our (relative) "studs" who I'd hoped would shine, have not.

Here goes. The records in parenthesis are the cumulative running record in conference and overall.

W - Loyola Chicago at Santa Cruz (0-2, 5-7)
W - Colorado (1-2, 6-7)
W - Utah (2-2, 7-7)
W - @ Cal (3-2, 8-7)
L - @ Washington (3-3, 8-8)
W - @ WSU (4-3, 9-8)
W - OSU (5-3, 10-8)
W - Oregon (6-3, 11-8)
W - Chicago State (6-3, 12-8)
W - Cal (7-3, 13-8)
L - @ Utah (7-4, 13-9)
W - @ Colorado (8-4, 14-9)
W - ASU (9-4, 15-9)
L - Arizona (9-5, 15-10)
L - @ UCLA (9-6, 15-11)
L - @ USC (9-7, 15-12)
W - WSU (10-7, 16-12)
W - Washington (11-7, 17-12)
L - @ OSU (11-8, 17-13)
L - @ Oregon (11-9, 17-14)

Pac12 Tourney - 1 win, 1 loss

Overall Record 18-15.

Maybe this gives us an outside shot at the NIT. Anything short of this would not.

Football Stanford Football Head Coaching Hot Board: Nov. 30th

Read that here. I think you guys will all appreciate the final category, though it sounds like from @anurag41 it may not be a necessary category anymore. Still wanted to do my part, though.

Football Recruiting Commits react to Troy Taylor being hired

I’m just gonna add quotes in here as they come in.

“Yeah, I think he’s a great coach that has an awesome resume. I think he’s definitely the right guy and that’s very exciting. He has not directly contacted me yet, but I’ve been in constant contact with the staff and will be going up there to meet coach Taylor next weekend.”-Gavin Geweniger

“Super fired up for Troy Taylor!”-Tre Williams

“I am very excited in Coach Taylor being named the new coach he will definitely change the program around. Where ever he goes he wins. Yes I have stayed in contact with my DB Coach Akina who has came for a home visit & recently came to my game. I should be taking a official visit soon.”-Jshawn Frausto-Ramos

NDSU Takes Down IWU. 5 Yards Passing.

Watched the entire game. The Bisons pulled out a 35-32 win.

IWU looked unstoppable on their first two drives and raced out to a 16-0 lead after only seven minutes.

NDSU played very poorly in Q1 with dropped passes and costly penalties. But they never flinched or panicked. Offensively they just continued to grind and grind, using their A-Gap Power run scheme along with many designed runs for the QB who rushed for over 100 yards.

IWU looked to have the better athletes and more overall team speed. Their QB, in particular, was very impressive as a dual-threat and was difficult to keep in the pocket.

But I could see how NDSU was just wearing them down with relentless execution in the power run game. Plays that were going for 2 yards early in the game were now resulting in chunk yards and long TD runs.

NDSU was the stronger team in the 4th Q and you could tell by the body language of IWU's defense that a number of their guys were "tapping out".

When NDSU's HC was interviewed moments after the contest, he responded to a question by saying his program had the best S&C Coach in college football, and that had everything to do with their relentless play.

I love everything bout NDSU's program, from the culture, S&C, recruiting philosophy ( They loved Ashton Daniels), and the brutal, violent, downhill running schemes that have made them such a dominant force for over a decade.

I think NDSU is The best model for Stanford to borrow from, and/or realign with going forward.
