Stanford wins 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-22) with a dominant first set, OK second set and sloppy third set. I have no idea how good Temple is, but our .425 hitting % indicated our power. Kipp (15 kills) and Baird (14 kills) dominated with only 1 error each. They were particularly strong from the left side and each had a few back row kills. Vicini dominated in the middle (8 kills, 0 errors) and MB was most effective with kills off the slide to the right side. Berty was quieter with 8 kills but 5 of the team's 9 errors.

In the first set particularly, Miner and Oglivie were superb. Miner was moving around well and setting nearly perfectly. Not as consistent in the last two sets. Oglivie had been a little slow last year and yesterday in the short ball, but was much better today. Temple must have tried 5-6 taps over the block in the first set and Oglivie dug out every one. Lougeay seemed fine on defense, but didn't really stand out; Beaven seemed to play a little less.

The team seemed off in the 3rd set. There were a ton of service errors (10 in the match, and 3 in a row in the 3rd set, with just 1 ace) and the ball handling was poorer. In our first two matches, we've come out strong with very good first sets, but not been as effective the rest of the way. Very different from our national championship teams that were much more likely to lose a 1st set than any other.

The commentators mentioned that Sami Francis was "sick" but that Hambley said she would start when back.

Summary is the same as after the first match, lots of talent and potential, but not yet in synch.
